Cervical Screening Programme

2026-05-12

Cervical cancer is a cancer that starts in the cervix and one of the commonest cancers among females in Hong Kong. Almost all cervical cancers are caused by persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV). Cervical screening is a quick and simple test for detecting early abnormal changes in the cervix. Regular cervical screening is proven to be an effective way of preventing cervical cancer. Cervical screening is for healthy women who do not have symptoms. Women aged 25 to 64 who ever had sexual experience should have regular cervical screening.
