Caring for Our Kids
A series of family education videos was produced by the Family Council to promote the family core value of "Love and Care". It equips parents with the necessary knowledge on children's growth and character development, as well as enhances their parental and emotional management skills. The six episodes of this series of videos entitled “Caring for Our Kids” include:
Episode 1: Voice Out!
As working parents, while being busy with work and taking care of children in the daily life, do you have time to talk to your children, listen to their inner thoughts, and understand their inner world? Yanny grew up in a single-parent family, and her mother ran around every day. In order not to make her mother worry, Yanny silently suffered the bullying at school and was unwilling to tell her mother or teachers. How did Yanny's mother discover and deal with it in the end? What should parents do if they find their children in a similar situation? Ms Clara Yuen, a psychotherapy trainer and registered social worker will share her advice.

Each child’s growing path is unique, parents should not compare their children with other children. Mr Tik Chi Yuen, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Institute of Family Education, will share his views.
Episode 5: The Sisterhood
What if a child only thinks about himself/herself and ignores the feelings of the people around him/her? What should parents do when their child turns into a little princess or a little prince? The younger sister in the clip wants to play with her elder sister all day long, but the latter is busy preparing for exams, leading the two to get into a fight. How does the mother resolve it? What are the steps to develop empathy of children? Let’s watch the clip! At the end of the clip, there is a sharing from Ms Shirley Loo, General Secretary of Family Development Foundation.
Episode 6: Goodbye Sadness
When faced with the death of a loved one, the feeling of sadness is indelible. As a parent, how should you explain death to your children and work with them to ease the negative emotions of losing a loved one? Psychotherapist Dr Ernest Lee will share with you on how to help children cope with and transit through the emotional changes of losing a loved one.
