The Social Welfare Department (SWD) and non-governmental organisations provide various family services for families in need, including:

Integrated Family Services

Operated by SWD and subvented non-governmental organisations, Integrated Family Service Centres (IFSCs)(including 2 Integrated Services Centres(ISCs)), provide welfare services to address welfare needs of individuals and families of specific localities, such as enquiry service, family life education, parent-child activities, outreaching service, counselling and referral service, etc.  Individuals or families in need can approach the centre with geographical service boundary covering their residential address for enquiry/ assistance.

Family Crisis Support Centre

The Family Crisis Support Centre operated by Caritas - Hong Kong supports individuals and family members in crisis or distress by providing 24-hour hotline service (18288), short-term emergency intervention with overnight accommodation and temporary retreat, etc.

Family Life Education

Family Life Education Units/ IFSCs organise educational and promotional programmes, such as seminars, talks, family activities and exhibitions, etc., in order to enhance family functioning, strengthen family relationship and prevent family breakdown.

Cross-boundary and Inter-country Social Service 

SWD subsidised Cross-boundary and Inter-country Social Service aims to help Hong Kong residents and new arrivals to handle and solve welfare problems arising from geographical separation between Hong Kong and the Mainland/ other countries.  Services include provision of service information and consultation advice through telephone hotline, referrals, provide casework, groups and counselling in Hong Kong.
