The Government launched the “School-based After School Care Service Scheme” (“the Scheme”) subsidised by the Community Care Fund in 2023/24 school year, allowing primary students in need to stay after school to receive care and learning support.  This will help their parents go to work and will also benefit single parent households.

The Government extended “the Scheme” to 2024/25 school year, covering a total of 100 primary schools across all 18 Districts and providing about 6 000 service places.  The “School-based After School Care Service Scheme (Expanded Programme)” (“Expanded Programme”) continues to be jointly implemented by the Labour and Welfare Bureau/Social Welfare Department and Education Bureau.  For further information on the “Expanded Programme” and the List of Participating Schools and Approved Service Providers/Service Units, please refer to the website of the Social Welfare Department.
