The Capacity Building Mileage Programme (CBMP) encourages women of different backgrounds and education levels to pursue lifelong learning and self-development.

Introduction

Pioneered by the Women’s Commission, the CBMP was launched in March 2004.  It is Hong Kong’s first tailor-made learning programme with a focus on women.  It is now run by the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.  The CBMP aims to enhance the women’s learning ability and unleash their potential so as to equip them with a positive mindset and enhance their inner strength to cope with different life challenges.  The CBMP offers a wide range of tailor-made and barrier-free learning programmes, in which courses are taught mainly through radio broadcasts, face-to-face instruction and e-Learning.  Women's groups and NGOs of different districts collaborate in the delivery and arrangement of courses for women in Hong Kong and other interested parties.

Targeted Students

Hong Kong resident aged 18 or above regardless of gender, academic qualification, personal background and race.

Mode of Study

There are three semesters in each year, starting in March, July and November.  The length of each course is 13 weeks.  Students can choose from a range of modes including radio broadcasts, face-to-face and e-Learning.  The flexibility of the learning mode caters to women’s needs in the arrangement of daily routines as well as learning hours. All three learning modes include supplementary learning activities, which take part in form of tutorial, demonstration, site-visit or other formats.
