Public Education of Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)
Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was extended to Hong Kong in 1996. The Government adheres to the principles of CEDAW, and promotes public awareness of the Convention. The Government has also been working closely with the Women’s Commission and all sectors of the community to promote women’s well-being.
The Women’s Commission assists the Government in implementing and promoting the Convention. Since September 2022, the Women’s Commission has conducted various school talks to promote the Convention to kindergarten and primary students. The Government has produced four sets of animated short films on CEDAW, including family, labor and employment, education and social participation, to let everyone know more about CEDAW. The highlights of each chapter are as follows:
